No lean No PainLean manufacturing is a system full with challenges. It challenges wastes and inefficiencies of the system. It challenges the thinking patterns of the people. It challenges the good old techniques of manufacturing. Most of the people do not like to implement lean manufacturing. They don’t want to do this due to a simple reason. Implementing lean manufacturing is a pain for any organization. It is like a surgery done to a patient. Pain can not be avoided. Why lean manufacturing is a pain to many people. It uncovers the problems which are covered with work in progress and other manufacturing inefficiencies. No one wants to know the problems they have in their systems. It pulls them out from their own comfort zones. So why put effort in something makes you uncomfortable. This mentality plays a big role in lean manufacturing failures. No lean means no pain. In fact no pain short term. In the long run though, your system will fail if you continue to be a conventional manufacturer. Although lean manufacturing is a massive change to the process in short term, long term it will build a system which is stable and simple. |
